How to Create a TradingView Alert

Creating alerts in TradingView is an essential step in automating your trading strategy with TOMMYBOTS. Alerts can be set up to notify you of changes in price, volume, and other technical indicators, allowing you to trigger actions in your trading bot via your TOMMYBOTS webhook. Here are the different ways you can create alerts in TradingView:

  1. Price Alerts: You can create a price alert by clicking on the bell icon on the top right corner of the chart and selecting "Create Alert". This will open a new window where you can set the price that you want to be alerted for. You can also choose to be alerted when the price crosses a certain level, or when it reaches a certain percentage change.

Indicator Alert

Click the three dots on the right of the indicator: This will bring up a context menu, from which you can select select "Add Alert"

You can also create alerts based on indicators that you've added to the chart. To do this, click on the three dots on the far right of the indicator and select "Add Alert" from the dropdown menu. This will open a new window where you can set the conditions for the alert to trigger. You can choose from various options such as crosses above/below, higher/lower than a certain value, and more.

Once you've created an alert, you can configure it to connect to your bot on the TOMMYBOTS platform by adding the TOMMYBOTS webhook URL and code snippet. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Alerts tab in the TradingView dashboard and click on the gear icon next to the alert you want to configure.

  2. Click on the "Notifications" tab at the top of your Alert configuration window.

  3. Check the box next to "Webhook URL"

  4. Copy / Paste in the TOMMYBOTS webhook URL that you obtained from the "My Bots" section of the TOMMYBOTS platform. Keep this URL private. For security purposes, DO NOT share this url with anyone.

  5. Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of your alert configuration window.

  6. Copy / Paste in the TOMMYBOTS code snippet that corresponds to the action you want your bot to perform when the alert is triggered.

  7. In the Trigger section, select how often you want the alert to trigger. The most common is to trigger the alert "Once Per Bar Close".

  8. Click "Create" to save your changes.

With the webhook URL and code snippet added to your alert, your bot will be able to automatically execute trades based on the criteria you've set in TradingView.

If you want to take a break from automated trading, you can pause your bot at any time by clicking the stop button on the alert in the TradingView Alert section.

When you click the stop button, the alert will be disabled, and the bot will no longer receive any signals. This means that your bot will not execute any trades until you re-enable the alert.

To resume your bot, simply click the play button on the alert in the TradingView Alert section. This will re-enable the alert, and your bot will start receiving signals again. Once your bot is active again, it will resume executing trades according to your predefined strategy.

Remember, it's important to regularly monitor your bot and adjust your strategy as necessary. By pausing your bot when needed, you can take the time to evaluate your strategy and make any necessary changes to ensure that your bot is trading in the most effective and profitable way possible.
